Logan Halstead’s Powerful OurVinyl Sessions Performance

We’re excited to share the latest OurVinyl Sessions video featuring Logan Halstead, where he delivers stirring performances of “Kentucky Sky,” “Dark Black Coal,” “Angel On My Shoulder,” and a unique take on “1952 Vincent Black Lightning.”

At just 19, Logan Halstead is already a standout in the country, folk, and Americana scenes. Hailing from Comfort, West Virginia, Logan’s music reflects the rugged beauty and struggles of Appalachian life. He wrote his first song, “Dark Black Coal,” at 15, capturing the hardships faced by coal miners, a reality close to his heart.

Drawing inspiration from artists like Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson, Logan’s sound is deeply rooted in Appalachian tradition but feels refreshingly modern. His OurVinyl Sessions performances highlight his raw, honest storytelling and emotional depth, with “Kentucky Sky” and “Dark Black Coal” particularly showcasing his connection to his roots.

With a debut album on the way and a growing fan base, Logan is on the rise, staying true to his Appalachian origins while making his mark on the broader music scene.
